Product information "Japanese Combination Stone, 1000/3000 grit"
1000/3000 grit, 180 x 50 x 45 mm.
High-performance ceramic stone, very wear resistant. Especially recommended for kitchen knives. Plastic box with non-slip rubber base.
Japanese Man-Made Waterstones (Toishi)
The fast, clean cutting action of man-made Japanese waterstones is making them more and more popular among Western woodworkers. Their soft bond and open-pored structure allow fresh, sharp abrasives to be continually exposed during use, resulting in optimal sharpening performance.
The stones are made of highly purified metal oxide, carbide and nitride particles bonded together in a ceramic or synthetic matrix. They are suitable for both Japanese and European cutting tools and knives. If necessary, they can be trued with wet silicon carbide paper stuck to a glass surface or preferably with a special ceramic truing block (No. st024).
Prior to use, the stones must be soaked for 2 - 10 minutes, depending on grit. Alternately, they can be stored in water-filled containers for immediate use.
The Advantages:
• No overheating of the steel.
• No rounding of the cutting edges.
• Wide array of fine grits.
• High sharpening performance.
• No messy oil on the blades.
