The Gränsfors Wildlife Hatchet is a traditional scouting and camping axe, with the same head as the Hand Hatchet but on a longer handle. This longer handle lends the axe more power, not least when felling trees. Item no: 415 Length with handle: 34 cm (13.5”) Weight: 0,6 kg (1.3 lb) Sheath in vegetable-tanned leather
Head weight approximately 700 g, face width 90 mm, overall length 450 mm. The thin blade and straight edge of this axe make it perfect for trimming and for shaping dry wood. The inside curve of the head allows the axe to be gripped close to the head for precision work. The Gränsfors Carpenter’s Axe has a long, thin and straight edge with a straight bevel face and a narrower poll, giving an even cutting surface for great carving. The forged inward curve from the heel to the lip of the head allows your hand to grip almost straight above the centre of the cutting edge, which is important when your work requires stability and precision. The handle is straight to suit all grips. Its flat, straight shape makes this axe suitable for work in dry wood.
Japanese Magic Box (Himitsu Bako), 5-sun, 10-step, 150 x 95 x 70 mm.Himitsu Bako boxes are certainly among the most intriguing handcrafted wooden objects made in Japan. At first glance, they appear to be nothing more than simple boxes with intricately inlaid surfaces. Try to open them and you will quickly discover that their intricacy is more than just cosmetic. The panels must be manipulated in a pre-set series of steps to release the locking mechanisms hidden by the mosaic and allow the lid to slide open. The production of these highly precise mechanisms is a challenge which requires decades worth of experience, exemplified by the fact that the youngest master Himitsu makers are over 60 years old.Made of solid cedar inlaid with different types of natural wood (Yosegi- Zaiku). Solution included.
