Bearded Axe Gränsfors Bruks

Head weight ca. 1650 g, face width ca. 140 mm, overall length ca. 735 mm.
 
The wide-bearded axe was one of the most important tools of the Viking Age. It was primarily used for hewing the beams and planks needed for building boats and houses (skiftesverkhus). The head of this axe is of iron and has a forge-welded carbon steel cutting edge and double beveled face. Patterned after an axe found on Gotland Island.
