The PRO-PM HSS turning tools are ultra-high- performance tools. Powder metallurgy (PM) involves mixing, compacting and sintering alloy powders to form incredibly durable composite metals. The powdered metals used by Crown contain a high percentage of Cobalt (8%) and Tungsten (10.5%), making them highly resistant to wear. A test performed by Woodturning Magazine (No. 93) showed that PRO-PM tools hold their edge three times longer than HSS tools.
