Kirjes Sanding System
The quality and appreciation of any piece of work is largely influenced by its finish. Flat surfaces can be finished with a smoothing plane or sand paper. However, with concave or convex shapes, the inner surfaces of receptacles and irregular shapes are a much more difficult matter. Up to now, a finishing by machine was simply not possible, while a finishing by hand was extremely time-consuming. This problem has now been solved by the Swedish manufacturer Kirjes with their integrated sanding & polishing system.A sleeve of highly flexible abrasive cloth is fitted on a cylindrical or dome-shaped rubber bulb which is then inflated with a special hand pump through an air-valve in the shaft. These pneumatic drums are very elastic and conform perfectly to any shape. In addition to sanding sleeves, cloth and brush sleeves for polishing are also available. They will give your piece of work the ultimately polished finish. All inflatable sanders are fixed in the drill chuck of a 130 cm flexible shaft.
